alex and katia

The first day back at school for a new semester and the first of a series of wedding catch-ups I plan to post over the next few weeks. This blog was launched towards the end of wedding season and it is high time for some of the wonderful weddings from earlier in the summer to be (re) published.

Alex and Katia are very special to me. Alex and I have known each other since junior high, and after we graduated high school he went to live and work at a church in Ukraine. He learned Russian (which still boggles my mind) and after a year or so of living there he started dating Katia. He brought her home to Michigan for a summer and we all fell in love with her. I’ve never seen Alex so happy, and I was so thrilled to be able to photograph their intimate backyard wedding back in June. It was a beautiful evening for a wedding, and my favorite part was that Katia’s family was skyped in for the whole thing! They were unable to make the trip from Ukraine, so Katia had her computer open all day while she got ready, and a friend held it up during the ceremony so they got to experience the whole thing. I might of shed a tear or two.. but I’m confident I wasn’t the only one.
