Happy almost fourth of July!

Hopefully you’ve stocked up on sparklers and will be relaxing somewhere close to water. I’ve been counting down the hours until I can pack up and head up north to the cottage and swim in the lake all day long. But first, I have some images to share from a family session with Scott, Cathy, and their little Lily. This session is actually one of three from the same evening that you’ll see around here in the next few weeks. Lily is a doll and the light this evening was making some good stuff happen. Look at those baby blues.

bill and susan

Bill and Susan have been together since high school, this July they will be husband and wife. If their wedding is anywhere near as beautiful as their engagement session, it’s going to be a dream.

I love getting to work with my friends. I also love when my friends show up and work it.

Christine and I have known each other for a little over a year and a half and I was so excited when she got engaged and asked me to photograph her wedding. Christine and Tim are great together. They are the kind of people that have a great time just being together.  They share the same sense of humor and Tim had us laughing the whole time. Thanks to both of you for going with my random whims and being ready for anything. I can’t wait for your wedding!

oliver | six months

Oliver is back in action, a full three months older with a lady killing smile. The light this evening was insane and the little dude was unstoppable. He powered through a little grumpy spell and worked the camera. I love documenting the first year of life, watching these little people grow up and develop their personality.. It’s crazy how much they can change every three months, keepin’ it fresh.

heather and john

we returned to the same quiet beach on lake michigan where john asked heather to marry him.

the story started on a rainy night in bridgman michigan where john’s family rented a cottage last summer. john proposed while they walked down the beach. they didn’t get as many pictures as they’d like because it was raining so we decided it’d be the perfect place for their engagement session. the week leading up to the session threatened us clouds and storm, and were still unsure what we’d be dealing with on the morning of. we made the call, we went for it, and the storm held off just long enough.
